JOB ONE for me is protecting my clients’ business needs and I collaborate closely with them to help navigate the complex challenges of intellectual property and commercial litigation. Clients deserve the best possible outcome for their efforts, and I pride myself on delivering it, through litigation, trial, or alternate dispute resolution.

I represent both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of disputes involving copyrights, trademarks, and patents. I’ve also successfully handled many disputes related to complex technology issues, particularly software, healthcare IT, and e-commerce. My clients also come to me with disputes related to unfair competition, trade secrets, business torts, fraud, privacy concerns, breach of contract or license, and unfair and deceptive trade practices.

I have great relationships with all of my clients, who range from market-leading software and technology companies to small and midsize private businesses, entrepreneurs, and artists. For them, I’ve successfully litigated cases in federal and state courts throughout North Carolina and across the southeastern United States -- and my trial experience has been well-rounded, with cases involving the Copyright Act, Lanham Act, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA), Anti-Cybersquatting Piracy Act (ACPA), and Sherman Act, among others.

I previously served as the Operations Partner within Morningstar Law Group, and as a member of the firm’s Accountability Team. In those roles, I was responsible for issues involving technology and security, human resources, office spaces, firm finances, risk management, and marketing.

Pro bono projects have always been important to me, and I have devoted a lot of time to Legal Aid of North Carolina representing indigent clients. My former firm, Wood Jackson PLLC, was awarded the N.C. Bar Association Smaller Law Firm Pro Bono Service Award.

Before joining Morningstar Law Group, I was a co-managing member of Wood Jackson PLLC; practiced at an international law firm, Kilpatrick Stockton LLP; and was a staff attorney for the Securities and Corporate Practices Division of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in Washington, DC. I also served as a law clerk for the Honorable I. Beverly Lake, Jr., who was at the time, Chief Justice of the N.C. Supreme Court.

A North Carolina native, I live in Raleigh with my wife, Jill, a board-certified family law attorney, and our two children.
